IllyShop in Rome

Since Hubby is an espresso lover, one mandatory stop in Rome was the Illyshop, located on Via Due Macelli 59/d. If you have not visited, it’s worth your time just to view the “art collection” cups that are available to purchase in the store. Take a look at some of them here. Very special!

Some are simple. Others, very ornate.

I would almost be afraid to use them, except of course if one of them just happened to contain hot chocolate…

The coffee bar is tucked away at the back of the store – be sure to check it out for a cup or two of espresso and a treat.

If you have time, head upstairs for a bite to eat. Almost like an extremely well decorated tree house, the cafe upstairs is perfect for a bit of relaxation and reading.

And, the store sells some very interesting Illy coffee flavors that we are not able to find here in the USA. What does that mean? Yes, Hubby bought a souvenir that will last for quite a few mornings to remember our trip to Rome.

  1. Wow, what an interesting place. How could you not run out and buy an extra suitcase to fill?

    1. Well…let me explain! We take a duffle bag filled with bubble wrap with us each trip just for that purpose! We’ve learned that “Bubble wrap is our friend” as well as ziploc bags to protect the olive oil and pesto we bring back.

  2. I am always looking for interesting coffee cups (especially the ones made in Italy – I love their shapes). I know that these can be very expensive – how were the prices in Italy? I’m sure drinking coffee in these cups makes it taste even better than normal 🙂

    1. We resisted buying, since the euro to dollar is a bit expensive…Their “artist cups” are georgeous, and we’d probably never drink from them, since they are SO pretty! LOL! Hubby has purchased quite a few espresso cups from kitchen stores in Lucca, Pisa, and Florence though, so he is not suffering from lack of cups to drink from!
